Well for one they made certbot which is a system that can get any website a free SSL certificate( which you need to have HTTPS on your site). So that's one great thing millions of people use

But is that a problem for the threat model of banking as your bank logs everything you're doing and will gladly share that with the government anyway. My question is is there any other possible data they could gather besides the VPN server's IP address and what I'm doing with my bank?

Is it so much of a problem if the rest of the fediverse doesn't follow suit. Most of us and the original devs are here because we don't like mainstream social media and the direction it's going.

So sure threads can show up and start trying to call the shots, but I think if we only except them if what they do is in our best interest it will be fine as we can just break off again and do our own thing if they start trying to head the project in their own direction.

As I don't think most people on here care whether threads is part of the fediverse or not.

My point is they only have power if we go with what they want, and due to the open source nature of this just because they have money and a lot of employees doesn't mean they can take control.

I have often wondered if you can take an android phone, drill and rip out all the sensors and radio transmitters, and use wired Ethernet through a VPN router and still be able to use just banking apps as that seems to be one thing I keep a proprietary phone around for.

Edit: I forgot the speaker and the mic though the mic could be classed as a sensor

Throw your phone out. Get a small librebooted laptop and use an android emulator for any apps.

Also if you want another really fun mod check out Golden Souls. It's a mod that fuses Doom with Mario 64, and it's one of the most amusing mods I have ever played, and it's really fun

Or they shove it into a bill about something completely different like feeding homeless children so they can attack you and call you a terrible person when you oppose the bill.

Don't forget the modern metal soundtrack mod as well( unless you absolutely love the original)

If you find the old doom games a little too old. Why don't you check out the brutal doom mod as it really pumps up the first 2 games and gives them a lot of modern gameplay elements. Seriously it makes them feel really fresh

I haven't tried it yet so anyone tell me if there are serious problems with it, but you can have a separate partition mounted at /home with your home folder so you can keep all your files and config files between distros
