I can understand why some Bayern fans would dislike this, but honestly it makes sense if they don't have a clear replacement lined up, especially in today's heavily inflated market. He still seems to be capable of doing the job, and we know from the likes of Buffon and van der Sar that top goalkeepers can still perform at 39. The main thing now is to spend the next two years planning for the post-Neuer world.

I don't think they managed to get a single thing right with this. It is in very poor taste, it looks like it memorialises the plane rather than the victims of the crash, it isn't even the right colour scheme for the plane, and it looks like a bunch of drunk art students threw it together over the course of a drinking session.

No, it wouldn't be. Because this is a singular instance of a relatively minor offence at this stage, for which the precedent is a fine at best. The comparisons people draw to Luton ignore that Luton had 15 charges, not 1. The allegations against Chelsea are much more serious and have a direct relationship to the transfer activity in the last couple of years.

Should this have been dealt with at the time? Yes. But I don't see how they can do anything about it now, 15 years later, not least because every single party involved in this bar maybe Defoe isn't in the game any more. Maybe a fine, but that'll be it.
