I had a similar problem. It was a result of the “show read posts” being unticked in my profile settings. Unfortunately, this also appears to hide your own posts.

How would you make Lemmy nicer for yourself? in c/technology@beehaw.org

Hide posts on scroll is a feature I would love to see.
