the data dumps are unrelated to signal, just part of the millions of americans who get their info hacked from websites each year. these people are just under scrutiny because of the recent scandal.

article seems to be mostly referencing the keller school district than the town. kisd spans about 9 cities, so you'd have to look at demos for all of them.

edit: i will take this opportunity to plug books unbanned as well, an organization that provides resources to help access books for certain age ranges from libraries that believe in access to information.

it's a nazi haven in the same way a public library computer is a nazi haven if nazis come in and use it. the library doesn't check your ideology when you log on, and neither does simplex.

if an app is available both on fdroid and the play store, and you already have google services installed, then it is almost always better to use the play store version. unless fdroid has changed recently, the way apps are signed is more robust and the chain of trust more resistant to manipulation for apps on the play store.

if you are asking if the selection of apps on each distributor are on the whole more secure in the way they provide their service, that's a more complicated question i can't answer.

americans abandoned that a long time ago.

it's possible they have downloading apps over a cellular connection turned off, though if you initiate the download, there should be a way to force it. you can also always access the actual bank website via a browser.

no one is preventing people who have facebook or instagram accounts from joining the fediverse by blocking meta. what they are doing, is preemptively taking action to ensure an immoral company doesn't do exactly what it has shown itself to be in it's nature to do.
