This person is being a dick about it but I can't help but agree, frankly. America has had this coming for a long, long time. And by America I mean the vast majority of Americans, on both sides of the political spectrum.

ICE is not going to start shooting people unless they are threatened with violence.
You do realize they're shooting protesters right as we speak right? That's literally why we're having this conversation.
Those people are already doing enough to protect their neighbors right now.
My point is that continuing that is the escalation you're talking about. Consider the following situation: ICE comes for person X and group Y shows up. Y refuse to hand over X, at which point ICE threatens to shoot them if they don't comply. What should Y do here? Hand over X? Peacefully get shot? Shoot back?
He can't do that. He literally cant. If Newsom complies it's because he wants to comply, not because Trump has the authority to issue such a decree.

Neither Trump nor his followers give a flying fuck about legal justifications, and any so-called moderate who cares about that is a fascist in denial. Solidarity is indispensible when fighting tyranny, and solidarity demands that when members of your community are being kidnapped by the Gestapo you fight back, not watch and cry about legal justifications.
There is no way to convince a person who is raised in a capitalist system why "arbitrary censorship" is way better than "democracy" where all significant media is capitalist owned.
I was brought up under arbitrary censorship. Democracy where all significant media is capitalist-owned is much better.
Even Dubya Bush wanted to give illegal immigrants amnesty and a path to citizenship but it was deeply unpopular so it never happened.

In the case of Haaretz I think they're just mad at Netanyahu since he tried to fuck with them. I'm not sure exactly what he did, but I remember that after reading an article about him taking hostile action against them they started publishing more critical (read: truthful) reporting of the war, though it should be noted that for the most part they were never on team "Enter Gaza and kill all the Khamas!!!!".
