Did it in a similar way. I used:

sudo cp -rp

to keep permissions also. Worked like a charm.

You could host your own instance, that way you're completely in control. I'm also doing that, just because I don't want people(mods, owners) to decide for me who I interact with or not.

Gotcha. Thanks for sharing. We’ll see what happens with Snap. I mostly use APT anyway. I had some few cases of Snap where it even wouldn’t update itself.

It “force closes” the tab. Correct me if I’m wrong.

CTRL + SHIFT + T (multiple times if needed) will reopen the last closed tab.
