My advice would be to choose a team that you like the aesthetic of. If you’re in it for the long haul then you’ll likely be buying merchandise, jerseys etc. The nature of the NBA means teams won’t be good/bad forever - it is cyclical. So don’t choose a team to support just because they seem like a good/winning team right now. Even poorly run teams like the Washington Wizards eventually see new GMs, new decision makers, and things change over time. I’m a 22yo New Zealander and I have been a die-hard Celtic fan since 2012. Paul Pierce is my all time favourite player. The Celtics are a well run franchise and are extremely competitive now, but if i am being honest, the last few years have just been stressful more than anything. The weight of expectation leads to disappointment. My favourite season was the 15-16 season. Watching Avery Bradley and IT and that year’s team was probably my favourite year of fandom.
