Well, duh. Canadians have known he was serious since before he was inaugurated.
This might actually be a good thing. Canada sells 4.4 million barrels of oil to the US every day, so trading with them is business as usual. I would guess this is part of an effort to get the tariffs dropped. All these governors are in red states who could influence Trump, and their stated goal is to keep energy affordable, not slap an unjustified tax on it.

Does she think she can just take Alberta out of confederation by herself? I know there are MAGAts out there who want to join the USA but they’re still in the minority. Referendum or surrender, those are her two options. And I doubt Albertans will surrender.
I read somewhere that if he becomes PM he doesn’t need to pass clearance anymore, he gets it automatically. Yet another reason not to let him win.
This idea has been kicked around for decades, but the provinces have never moved on it. Now is the time to do it.
