I would have probably given up after the GPS incident so props to you I guess. What phone are you looking to get if this one will eventually break down? Because if you like your headphone jack, it will be kinda hard to find a suitable replacement

Thanks alot for the more than enough explanation :)

interesting, so every DE has a WM or are can only one of them at a time be used? And if you use a WM you have to install guis, file managers yourself? I think the only thing i would want is a DE/WM that has tabs for folders. I think its a neat feature to have

yeah i guess this one didnt scream clickbait as much as the other videos of his. I got some in my feed afterwards and quickly realised that this guy doesnt shy away from using clickbait titles.

What is DE or WM? Is it actually that easy to change distro? Dont you have to basically install everything again from scratch? I read somewhere that you can seperate your directories on your SSD so that you can just change the kernel but i dont know how easy or true that is

literally never saw this posted here so @cerement@slrpnk.net is right

thanks for the explanations. I only used Ubuntu like 5 years ago and since then never again. From what i understand flatpak is a linux command to install applications. Ubuntu uses apt / apt-get (whatever the difference is there). Why does this guy shit on apt so much? I dont know whats wrong with it and why is flatpak so good?

Ah ok i gues si can understand it makes sense that if you really wanna learn linux you gotta be ready to get your hands dirty aka figuring out how to configure the distribution. Maybe its just very overwhelming because a beginner doesnt even know what you can / can't configure. But probably everything

as a noob, why are snaps so bad? Thanks for the bullet points btw, it cleared a bunch of stuff up :)

Since i see so much linux talk on lemmy i got curious and watched a video about the common distros. How true is the information in this video? The person hardly describes why debian and arch are just better than every other distro. At least i'm definitely now curious about Mint or something for gaming.

I loved this movie as a kid and I still do. I used to watch it with my dad on VHS.

Only movie I watched was Dobermann a french 90s trashy action gangster movie. Very fun to watch, would recommend

Isn't it still true that a Nvidia card is better for gaming with Linux than AMD or Intel?

Wow almost 2k for a laptop? Ok it has actually good specs, but still it's alot.

I checked out the website on my phone and it was a hot mess. Wtf is going on there?

Hello everyone,

the title says it almost completly already. I had a long chat with someone and i always click show context when i get a notification.

If i do that, it sends me to the reply but i cant see the context. The button to show the context just wont work.

If i go to the post and wanna see the reply with context over there, it wont even load the last reply. Like the layering of replies is too much.

It is this comment . I didnt find any lemmy bug report thing so i just wanna post here to get it out there. Maybe this is already known, or for some reason only me has this problem. I dunno, is there anything i can do or is this actually a bug?

It happens to me on feddit.de and liftoff.

I just noticed yesterday. I was searching for a community, found it and read through a specific post and the comments.

I then noticed that I searched with lemmy.world, no biggie I thought, I switched over to my instance feddit.de and searched for the community, found the same post and didn't see any of the comments or anything like that.

I don't know much about the fediverse but I thought I could access everything from every instance and it didn't matter where I had my account. I'm using the app liftoff for Lemmy.

When someone answers to my message under a post I want to look at my message again to get context again.

The only way I have found this possible is by clicking on the three dots and then "view on another instance" and click on my own instance.

Is there a better way I'm missing?
