I think we should also include term limits for these offices in addition to the age limit.

You can’t be president for more than 8 years, but you can be in the same political office more or less for almost 40? That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me lol.

Pretty much - Muskrat most likely privately funds (read: bribes) enough government officials to either stand by and do nothing or actively interfere.

This advisor should also consider the lack of response from the US itself as part of the problem - Muskrat is helping out an enemy, but uhhh… what the fuck did the government do to curb that shit from happening in the first place?

Might be a silly question, but would it be better if we somehow turned suburbs into being more akin to rural towns? Like the suburbs could maybe have nearby town centers that they could walk to in 10-15 minutes that would allow small businesses to operate in.

I don’t live on the mainland, so no idea how it actually works.

And I think the only reason some of the US states even compare to some European countries is more or less the US economically brute-forcing a higher QoL versus actually planning and spending money wisely which seems more common in Europe and the UK.

The former can’t last forever and will hit a wall once something gets costly enough, the latter should be able to scale decently well as population grows.

Yup, the internet is very much a place to commiserate and where being negative towards anything not in the hivemind is 1000% A-OK. Like ffs, you even see it in this thread - some other poster literally said that rich people deserve more than just death.

I’m angry at how fucked up the system is in the US and how politicians basically became the interference between the ruling class and the working class, but when I see people cheering for the death of rich people like with this and that sub that was going to the Titanic recently, that’s not ok. It’s just as bad, if not worse, than either talking about the underlying issues or doing something about them because they allowed themselves to be ok with the death of another human being that doesn’t contribute to either side of the real issue of corporate entities controlling the US - and since that satiated them, then they don’t feel the need to actually go about change.

I really hope that SNW keeps any more references to the TOS crew to either one-shot episodes or really short cameos, because I genuinely dig it when SNW does it own thing.

It’s cool to explore Spock, Uhura, and Chapel at this point in their careers, and I’m starting to warm up to including Kirk as a semi-regular on the show, but stuff like putting Scotty in an episode where it would’ve been fine if he was replace by a different character is where I can see it going in an unhealthy direction for the show. We, the viewers, don’t need a ton of these call forwards to the TOS crew because we can reasonably say “oh, they’re all in training/serving on different ships right now” and be ok with it - we don’t need to see Chekov, Sulu, Bones, or anybody else from TOS here if it’s gonna be at the expense of the show itself.

I mean, we sold the entire island if Lana’i to the CEO of Oracle at one point. I wouldn’t be surprised if the government here backtracks on their statement under the guise of getting money to “rebuild Lahaina” and sells land to some rich assholes.

We already let Elliot Fisher, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg buy a lot of land - why not more?

tfw you just stand on the sides and then meme on what’s happening with a lame joke instead of contributing your two cents on the socioeconomic practices that are happening in the US that are currently choking its working class to death

lmaooooooo gottem

Which is why I’m hesitant to actually call those greedy fucks “capitalists”, because they’re the very antithesis of capitalism. They literally break the system for their own benefit, and thanks to US politicians to being corrupt enough to allow themselves to be bought out for a few bucks from said greedy fucks, nobody in power is incentivized to actually do something.

Capitalism works with money flowing constantly, and it needs that to work well. When you have some Warren Buffet and Elongated Muskrat kind of people just hoarding wealth… well, you get the shitshow that is the the US today. $300B circulating in the system would be awesome, and I would think that is a good indicator of a healthy economy; but when $300B is pretty much tied to one person, then congrats, we missed the point of capitalism.

SLPT: Become a police officer if you want to murder people and get away with it

I wonder if it’s supposed to be part of the “art” - to show how depraved humans can be given a chance to do it scot-free.
