It’s because the USA’s corporate owners like to obfuscate shit like that. The economy is doing well if all you’re looking at is GDP, stock market, and how profitable companies are.

However, a quick look at the Consumer Price Index shows how fucked the economy is for the citizens - but you never hear about the US’s really bad CPI score and how inefficient most markets are in the US.

Cyberpunk 2077 sorta explores this a bit.

There’s a vending machine that has a personality and talks to people walking by it. The quest chain basically has you and the vending machine chatting a bit and even giving the vending machine some advice on a person he has a crush on. You eventually become friends with this vending machine.

When it seems like it’s becoming more apparent it’s an AI and is developing sentience, it turns out the vending machine just has a really well-coded socializing program. He even admits as much when he’s about to be deactivated.

So, to reiterate what you said: predictive text and LLMs are not alive nor a mind.

If they plan on incorporating the content usually talked about for those programmes into the usual history curriculum, then sure - I am for all this.

But if they’re just gonna censor and whitewash history then fuuuuuuuuck no please.

Bullshit, Verizon isn’t a victim at all - they fucked up, they should own up to their mistake instead of trying to go “me too!” to a situation where a stalker harassed their customer and their family after giving said stalker the customer’s personal information.

Why not both?

4-day work week means less stress and more time to rest and be healthy, and a NHS system would also be very good as well.

Off-topic, but when I mentioned this in a different thread, an actual answer I got is basically the fediverse is really similar to reddit - how can the culture be any different?

Anyways, if the fediverse starts to become Reddit 2.0 I think it would be high time to go.

Try re-reading the headline again :)

Tbh I don’t watch much Dr. Who, but I did find myself liking Capaldi a lot the few times I watched his episodes

GDP is, and has been, trending up for a long time.

That’s because GDP has been inflated to high hell. Military spending and real estate both contribute to GDP as well - notice how high both of those things are in the US?

CPI is a better indicator of a nation’s economy and we’re over 300 points with a lot of industries underperforming and overspending with a CPI ratio of less than 1.

Bridal jewelry worker here. I can absolutely confirm that, yes, you can indeed spend $10k on a ring setting and stone very easily. You can also spend $35k on a single ring if you got something from Hearts on Fire or Tacori.

Most of the cost comes from the stone and not the ring setting itself though. Like you can spend maybe at most like $5k on a platinum ring setting and another $10k+ on the stone.
