What's it like to moderate a lemmy community or kbin magazine? (kbin.social)
 

Is there a template for rules? Rules for rules? Is there a lot of spam and abuse requiring moderation?

Are most communities ghost towns? How do you grow? Can discussion threads be cross posted?

Usually for me to reach out I have to feel awfully bleak. By that time any replies I get are overwhelming. Can anyone relate? (kbin.social)
 

And ummm this is not a cry for emergency help. It's a pondering. I do wonder if many others can relate.

"Awfully bleak" to current me is very little contact with others, difficulty with daily tasks, repetitive cycle of days feeling unable to function, inability to concentrate, financial desperation. Those things are all bleak. And yes all that negatively affects my self esteem. In earlier days what sidelined me was self hatred and nihilistic thoughts. Now it's chronic pain.

It will be possible to have accounts on multiple instances, those that block Meta or federate with Meta. Then see what happens.

With the decline of twitter and reddit, it's time to take a look at RSS again if you haven't already. in c/technology@beehaw.org

I’m not currently using RSS, it’s been years. And yes I also felt overwhelmed. I have same problem with Podcasts on my iPhone and honestly email. Just like in most cases I don’t want to be pushed content. My brain feels bad for not keeping up. The best use of RSS that I can imagine for me would be following a small number of original content creators who post erratically in multiple platforms. It’s another reason I love the fediverse so much bc we can slap /feed on the end of many addresses to pull that content elsewhere. And again I’m not currently using RSS lol. I’m just saying that I might use it for passionate follows. I think it’s a useful tool for getting people free of the big bad platforms.
