Because he was hyped up in ways that he shouldn't have been. People were calling him a 7'5 Kevin Durant even though he was never scoring at that level.
People are seeing the reality vs expectation. This was bound to happen. He's still a special player but people gave him unfair expectations comparing him to one of the greatest scorers of all time.
