Also, they just translate estimated number of downloads to potentially sold tickets 1:1 (they always have). As if a pirate would actually watch all that shit if they had to pay for it. Many probably even don't after download (like Steam games on sale).

As someone using LibreOffice at home and MS Office at work (both daily): nope, unfortunately, Calc is pretty shit compared to Excel. It's enough for my personal needs but I wouldn't want to rely on it professionally.

Yes, I know about what they attempted (actually published some of it already in an official repo).

But why you talk in past tense? Have they reverted the changes and publicly pinky-promised not to do it?

It is just nostalgia. Like it or not, that's the first gamers' generations saying "everything was better in the good ol' days". It was not, we just choose to remember the good stuff.
