Could they have stolen the story? Yes. But they could have equally had a similar experience, it's not that implausible. I've known people that have nose bleeds like that, it's not some incredibly rare condition, and saying hail Satan is the kind of thing tons of edgy kids/teens would do.

Things can happen more than once.

Honestly sometimes I wish I could brainwash myself that effectively.

Right but you're trying to avoid them leaving before that in case you get a win and don't need to make the lay-offs. If they leave earlier the win you're hoping for may no longer be enough to save you.

Just curious what's your setup?

Those are laws. If you want a law that bans tipping and assures a higher wage for waiters then sure, that's fine, but boycotting businesses won't get those laws made.

If no one is going there and they don't know why, and they're losing money because they're not getting enough business, they're not going to decide the solution is to start paying their waiters more. That will just cause them to close down sooner.

Also, just as they don't know why people stopped going there unless every single one calls them and makes it clear it's due to tipping/wages, the people protesting aren't going to know even if they do start paying the waiters more.

Almost every waiter I've ever spoken to also prefers tipping because they make more than if they were being paid more, because the business isn't going to pay them as high as they were making in tips (on average).

The only way they even could, is if they raised the price of everything by 25%. As much as people say they'd be fine with that, such high prices would drive some number of people away. There's also the issue that if the business owner realised people would pay that much higher, they'd inevitably keep some for themselves and only somewhat increase server wages.

This isn't to say that I think avoiding tipping is the way to fix it either, just that I don't think it's as clear cut as just avoiding the business.

So, if you use it properly. Just like you wouldn't use a fork for soup despite it being a utensil and food. Using a tool for what it's good at and avoiding using it for things it's bad at is part of using it properly.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I instead installed an extension to force shorts to play as normal videos. Some channels have shorts worth watching (imo), but this prevents endless scrolling through short after short, I have to intentionally choose to watch them by clicking on the specific thumbnail, every time.

I find it a decent compromise.

I do stremio + torrentio addon + real Debrid.

Interface and features on par with any modern streaming service (continue watching, new episode alerts, library, categories, search etc), every show and movie all in one app, full speed, no need for VPN or worry about seeds (I've found shows with 0 seeds that work because it was cached on real Debrid) for $3/month.

Also supports a ton of devices/TV's. Dead simple to use once it's set-up, my parents and in laws both use it with no issue on Chromecast with Google TV after I set it up for them.

Oh and if you don't want to pay you can forget real Debrid and it'll still stream torrents at the cost of slightly worse loading times (but entirely usable, I did it for 3 years) but if you live somewhere that you feel the need to use a VPN for that, unless you also use the VPN for something else putting that money into real Debrid instead is worth it.
