This is nice for Oracle to say. That being said, Oracle are not "The Good Guys™" and never have been. They might be legitimately honest about Oracle Linux and their commitment to being open and free, but they're horrible about so many other things, and always have been.

How many people here have actually used XMPP? in c/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world

All programs should tell you where they store config files in c/technology@beehaw.org

I mean, that's sort of what xdg is intended to accomplish, with making $HOME/.config be the place, but it's kind of up to the individual software developers to comply. (Yes, I know, this doesn't really apply to Windows/Mac OS) But yeah, it would really be nice if configs/config locations were even remotely standardized.
