I don't think it should be a problem, but I'm not that sure either. Lemmy.fedi.zutto.fi also runs it and that's just a normal lemmy-ui installation. I think Zutto simply forwarded all traffic to Anubis and then fixed federation. There was some discussion and config shared in sopuli's finnish matrix room.
Skelectus
I just set up Anubis today. Specifically I'm only testing it for Lemmy-ui, and it seems to work fine.
It looks like the distributed waves that keep bringing the service down hit exclusively our lemmy-ui subdomain, so maybe non-SSR photon is also a good defense, heh.
If another instance started knowingly federating us ads, or fake content, I'd hit that defederate button very quick.
I was going to say I had a vague recollection of someone saying that they were going to create one, but looks like it was you :)
Hi again
Heh, I upgraded from 0.19.5 to 0.19.8 today just to see this.
I think I created one over a year ago, but never got around to actually get it started. I don't have the energy to keep subs alive. So yes, I'd like to see that.
There was a thing about this from the finnish public broadcasting company a while ago. Their results were similar.
Usually the news only concern the instance's users. If you want to find announcements, the community is often named either meta or main.
But maybe a common place for instance status announcements isn't such a bad idea.
The instance admin is working on migrating the server as we speak. It'll be back up sooner or later.
You can't move it even with admin access, because it will break it for other instances that expect the old domain.
Theoretically it could be "safe" to manually copy local content made by local users, but I wouldn't dare to attempt it.
I think this is a known problem. I've seen it recommended a lot to moderate communities from the same instance.
I kind of doubt we'll find ourselves in a Terminator situation
