There is no need for cameras, that is solving a problem that did not need to exist. They should not raise the front ends as they do for aesthetic reasons.

You skipped Ni-MH there, that was major for not having the memory problems of Ni-Cd. We still use those in AA and AAA rechargeable batteries.

It's because they are not practical. They do not work inside cars, they transition super slow in winter, they are clear when you need sun glasses and dark when you need to see.

They work based on UV light. So they will not transition inside cars. They also will not transition in cold weather, so you'll walk in snow with clear glasses and have dark ones for 5 minutes once you go inside.

You are missing the point. Open source hardware is about the design and drivers for the hardware being open. This means that when you buy a component you get full specs and the source code to make it run. That way you are not ruining windows 3.1 in 2024 because the company that created your train software does not update it and you can't legally replace it (this is true right now).
