I use Win11 on my main computer for work and school reasons. I need maximum compatibility and reliability and it has met those goals. Back in the day, I used to use Linux on my old laptops and I dual-booted it on my main PC. It has been awesome seeing how far it has come and I would like to get back into it some day.

That being said, a huge barrier for Linux and prospective new users is the community. The Linux community is highly combative and toxic and it absolutely sours what should (and could!) be a great experience. Almost every interaction I had while troubleshooting had some level of condescending attitude or outright hostility and there were numerous times I was directly insulted for asking for help - the most recent being a couple years ago when I was trying out a distro and had sound driver issues.

More like certainly. It is hard to have a relationship with (or even exist alongside) someone who is constantly dragging you down.

It’s been a hot topic over the years just how screwed Vancouver would be in the event of a disaster. The amount of ways out of the Lower Mainland can be counted on one hand.

Buying a game because it claims it is available in your language and then getting served an awful, nonsensical translation is absolutely not a stupid reason to leave a bad review.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600x, RTX 4080 Super 16GB, 64GB system RAM, and like 10TB split up over multiple drives both SSD and HDD. I don't remember what PSU I put in but it's an 850W Gold from Corsair. Case is a Fractal North XL in white with glass side panel.

Usecase is 3D modelling primarily. I mostly work in Blender so getting a capable GPU was a must and the large amount of system RAM is nice when I'm working with textures in Substance or editing large files. I may upgrade my CPU as I move into more CPU-rendered tasks but right now I'm doing just fine.

PP is a supporter of the TFW program and has been for years. God I hate this slimy weasel so much. He is everything wrong with modern politics compressed into a single person.

Fascists are masters of manipulation, voting interference, deception, and sabotage. Some of the richest and most powerful people, organisations, and groups in the world are fascists and they work tirelessly to undermine rights and democracy around the world every day.

Fascists cannot and will not ever be contained in one place. They cannot be ignored, blocked, or otherwise disregarded. Stopping fascism requires extensive education, regulation, and eradication.

Only a matter of time before Google will shut that down too.

Good time to drop an educational reminder that tea isn’t just leaves in hot water but an actual plant. The tea plant, or Camellia sinensis.

A lot of the things that get labeled as “tea” are not actually tea.

Canada already tariffs China at the behest of the US.

The article gets a few points right but it is yet another news outlet that missed the really big point: Trump threatened to invade Canada. There was a period of time when it was becoming increasingly clear that he was going to use fentanyl as a manufactured crisis and as context for a military occupation or at the very least placing military on the Canadian border. Nearly every time Trump talked about Canada he had to drop some sort of line where he mentioned annexing Canada.

I'm not sure why this detail always slips through the cracks whenever news agencies talk about the souring Canada/US relations. Threatening war on your neighbour is a great way to destroy generations of built-up trust in an instant.

I stopped using Spotify years ago and every time I hear about it I only get my decision further reinforced. What an absolutely cancerous company.
