A few weeks back I decided to reread Lord of the Rings.

About 90% of the way finished with that, but stopped when I realized I wanted to do a reread of Stormlight Archives for a refresher (particularly on Way of Kings and Rhythm of War) since I have now read all sorts of fun Cosmere stuff like Sunlit Man, Warbreaker, Mistborn 2, and Elantris since I picked them up.

Just wrapped on Way of Kings and am progressing much slower into Words of Radiance.

I read Era 2 Mistborn after I did my first read through of the Stormlight Archives and I don’t think you’ll have missed much. That was a good 2-3 month break.

You will want to have read Mistborn Secret History after the Bands of Morning as well.

Those are the two biggest thirst traps I know of.

This looks really cost affordable and efficient, but I’m not sure my wife will go for the DIY aesthetic.

You’re getting a recency bias, but I watched Akudama Drive about a month ago and really loved it.

Yeah absolutely clicked on this to spout my spiel about Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It’s my favorite anime ever.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is up there too, but I like TTGL more.

What if you like your family more than your job? Hustle and bustle of the work/school week (even an enjoyable one) makes it incredibly hard for me to spend time with my family outside of weekends.

I did some Mario Kart and a some of Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum online battles.

But I generally liked single player games as opposed to party games.

The only one that I know that really gets compared to BoTW is Genshin Impact.

Which, it kind of is in terms of exploration. They even added Korok seeds in their 3.0 update.

The big bad enemies are also ancient robots that can be terrifying when you’re low level too.

This game came out the tail end of 2020. It also has a very similar color palette to BotW in some areas. Especially the main “Castle Town” zone.

You can also buy them online for cheap and in semi-bulk last time I checked

If you have any silica packs, these work better.
