Ballots typically have identifiers such as voter information or barcodes that help election officials match them to specific voters, allowing them to contact those whose ballots were compromised and ensure they can cast a new vote.

Voters who used the affected drop box after the last collection time are encouraged to contact the Clark County Auditor's office to verify if their ballot was among those destroyed and to obtain a replacement (source)

Oh damn, is Google moving toward not allowing apps to be installed from outside the Play Store?

Regardless, I see now how it's a problem; if we let Apple do it, and then Google decides to too, we're fucked, and it would then be unfair to not let Google do it since the precedent was set by allowing Apple to

Thanks for your input! Is that what's happening here, though?

But hasn't Apple always been this way? It's not like people don't know what they're getting into when they choose Apple over Android. Is there something I'm missing?

guns tense things up.

Not typically among people who are regularly exposed to them

When you think of a gun chances are what comes to mind first isn't going to be something you want to think about.

No, I think of the handgun in my nightstand, my father's hunting rifle, my cop brother's electronic gun safe, my friend's revolver, and my former drug dealer's shotgun

... a lot of depressed people not going out.

I've held that same handgun to my head and contemplated pulling the trigger, and I'm no closer to understanding what you mean by this

If we can take those thoughts away and replace them with good ones yeah I think we would be better off.

Seems like we could accomplish the same with universal gun safety classes/ positive exposure in k-12 (and greater access to no-cost therapy)

Kinda interesting you chose to make this about me when there are many other ways this convo could have gone.

I think you're in the minority for feeling this way. Just because you're stating it as if it's a universal truth doesn't make it so. It's a personal feeling you shared- I didn't make it about you.

Australia did it and every one of those fuckers I run into are hilarious and idk if it's correlated or not but hey maybe let's just try it out and see.

You got me there- if it makes everyone funny, that might be worth it

That makes sense! That's how I feel about veganism. Even if the meat has already been processed and will go to waste if I don't eat it, I'm still not eating it

Sometimes going inside is just as -if not more- stressful than work or wherever they spent their day. Going inside could mean dealing with family conflict, chores, etc, so that time in the car might be one of very few times they get to truly relax with no obligations/expectations

This is a misunderstanding of quantum mechanics.

The idea that the universe is "not locally real" suggests that particles don't have definite properties until they are measured, with their states potentially correlated over distances through quantum entanglement. This doesn't mean that only observed things exist; rather, it indicates that certain properties are simply indeterminate until measurement (or "observation")

In quantum mechanics, "observation" refers to the interaction that causes a system's wave function to collapse from multiple potential states into one actual state. This process affects the state of the system but does not imply that reality is created solely by observation, nor does it require a sentient observer

Edit: sorry to be a party pooper! I did enjoy reading your post

Can I ask why you aren't voting third party? Is it to avoid at all legitimizing the relevant institutions/systems?

I'm voting third party so that, hypothetically, Dems can see that those votes exist, and maybe consider trying to earn them by adopting leftist policy positions. I know they very likely won't though, tbc, but it's a more likely event than a third party candidate winning

Personally, I thought that was quite obvious
