People that really want convenience just pay for streaming services.
Streaming services stopped being convenient a couple of years ago. Introduction of ads, content strewn all over the place, shitty UI, etc.
I went with Stremio because it has everything in one place. Seeding is not an option because Germany is a shit country for seeding Torrents.
Real Debrid does the torrenting while the end user downloads the cached content. I'm not sure if they seed or not however.
Tankies keep being mentioned on Lemmy, but I have yet to see an actual tanky...
I like how this place is more on the left side of things, but very often it's very far left, where other opinions suddenly stop mattering. And that bugs me at times. It's still a better place than any other social media out there.
But maybe people would like a standalone device, without the distraction a regular smartphone brings.
I'm not defending this thing as AI in its current state is near useless, bar some niche applications. But the decision to make it a standalone device isn't really controversial in my opinion.

I don't know man, I loved YouTube back in the days when people made videos for shits and giggles. No one expected money from that.
You can use Revanced for example. Alphabet is trying to fuck that up too, but it's still going strong. Plus, a revanced YouTube is a lot better than the regular app. Want to get rid of Shorts? Revanced will let you get rid of those shitty videos for good. Hate sponsor messages in Videos? Revanced will let you integrated sponsorblock.
The day that revanced won't work anymore is the day I'll stop using YouTube.
Given how terrible Teams performes, I'd dread to have merely 8GB to run it on.
Yet here I am, in Germany, seeing that many US citizens apparently care about the situation. This I might not have known without this article.
It's about exposure. That's why climate activists glue themselves to the streets here in Germany. Does it make sense? Not really. Do people know the cause they're fighting for? Absolutely. That's a good thing.
I believe you can simply leave it unregistered and it'll still work indefinitely. Plus you aren't getting updates forced down your throat, since you're not connected to the internet.

If you've been using Windows for decades, Linux is absolutely not easier to use. Troubleshooting Windows for me is super easy and nowadays I hardly have to troubleshoot at all. It kinda just works™. Troubleshooting Linux as a noob is absolutely atrocious and I've always run into a problem with Linux within the first couple of weeks.
That said, I wish I grew up using Linux, so it'd be second nature to me. I really would like to ditch Windows. Problem is, I'm already burnt out from my job, I really don't have the energy to make the switch yet.
