O I never thought about that one. Only visited for few weeks but completely forgot. This is honestly not a bad choice. I remember finding airbnbs at a good price too.

Thailand does come in pretty close. Can get cheaper rent better internet and the Language barrier isn't THAT bad. Depends. You could stay right in bangkok for 400 a month at a really decent place and have access to people who can speak some English. Prior to living in Philippines me and my wife would go to Thailand often for the beaches there and we love staying on Koh Chang. The great thing is most there spoke some form of english.

You won't get everything you are asking for I'll be honest. At best i would consider Thailand. You can live away from the cities at a really low price. English is ok. The internet isn't terrible and you can get fresh veggies there. Me personally i could do it at 800 ish a month there.

I would recommend having your mail sent to a PO box and then have someone you trust. -- I am lucky my old man lives in my basement -- I promise its a finished basement!! dude lives like a king -- and this happened to me last year I had a summons. So I emailed the court and told them I was out of country. They asked for a copy of my passport with a stamp showing whatever country I was in at the time. This way they could verify. Once done they "pushed" my date back 1 year. -- 1 year came few months ago same thing. Showed them and another extension till next year. I dont mind going honestly just not good time.

It has to start mostly in office. I am just shy of 6 figures right now but I started in office for 1 year. After that I started to push for remote and after few months of approvals here I am. Now prior to that I have always been around 50-60k a year working remote. You can get decent wages and crazy livable outside states with it. Just need that "skills".

Edit
I saw a few say just lie with a remote job. This honestly 100%. VPN routers do work and are almost 99% fine. A lot of people are using them now and even myself if I have to do it I will.

Honestly, not having experience / still attending school might slow you down a bit. Though look for remote customer service roles. Airlines are hiring remote help, schools might be looking. Think small when looking for work. Generally remote work is easier to find than you think.

Was born in NYC and what shocked me was tokyo. It just felt like a much much much better new York. I was shocked how clean it was and how safe for being so dense.

I have had a million culture shocks but for cities tokyo got me.

Don't use your phone or keep things easy to grab in your parents if you are riding jeepney in Philippines. I have had people in past try and grab my shit. Nothing gone but they try really fast and move on. Mostly when we are stopped at a light.

A lot of us have money but we are still sensible with our spending. I make a great income from my job and live in a house me and my wife own in Philippines but of course we could go around to different areas spend more. Well we do but never long stay. Longest in a high cost area was 3 months in osaka as a home base and traveled from there. Was not cheap but worth the time.

I think the idea of a DN is living in an area with locals but above life style. Experience things we can't in our own counties. Learn new cultures but why still having comforts from home. This can be done in many countries under 1k a month usd.

Not about being poor or broke but about being sensible.

I am also thinking retirement at 45 soon because i lived this life style for 20 years.

Doesn't seem like you will have any issues but doesn't hurt to have a vpn router anyway. They are great for those random times and you could vpn with the router into uk then your work for updates. You could buy a dedicated ip or server to keep the ip private. People in my area few part like 5 a month to buy a server and have traffic moving through that with wireguard.

But that was long message. It seems like you are fine without a vpn but i would have one anyway just the extra level of "anxiety". Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
