No, Trump voters are EXACTLY as stupid and racist as was previously thought... The mistake was thinking anyone was going to change their minds by meeting them in the middle, and thinking they could do so in a short amount of time without understanding how to really use social media propaganda (just bullying everyone while ignoring their legitimate demands was not a good strategy) shows how stupid the Dems are as a party

I highly doubt he people who couldn't check the box for a woman were part of the 10 million who showed up for Biden but not Harris. People made it perfectly clear what would get them to show up, and instead of listening she spit in their faces... Anyone who couldn't bring themselves to vote for a woman was almost certainly a Trump voter start to finish

"I can only think of one occasion when someone mentioned stricter taxes on billionaires or any similar policies. The atrocities being committed by Israel in Gaza only came up six times in more than 1,000 calls. The idea that Harris was not leftwing enough seems false"

The problem with this anecdotal evidence is that the campaign almost certainly put this kid to work only calling likely Republican voters... An absolute waste of time, and of course these are the things those shit brains would be saying... If he had been put to work calling people who had voted for Biden but were less likely to show up this time he would have gotten a lot more genocide, she's not progressive enough, and tax the rich messages

Money helps get the word out.. but theoretically there's gotta be at least the 10 million people who didn't show up, plus the progressive who did show up... If we could get them all on board to vote as a block, maybe we could make something happen

Trump voters are misogynistic assholes, that's a given, and pay off the reason the Dems shouldn't have been trying to get them... But it's not like a bunch of people who voted for Joe went and voted for Trump... He didn't get more votes this time. Millions of Biden voters just didn't show up... And I don't believe for a second that they didn't show up because they just didn't want to vote for a woman

It does suck that this country has so many misogynists... But they are a known factor and can/should have been planned for... that's not what cost Dems this election

They know exactly what their doing... Even more reason to replace them

[–] Wes4Humanity@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

You see... The Dems did that too... What was really needed wasn't "well you should vote", it should have been, "what would it take for you to vote"... And then fucking do it

Imagine if the election had been between Cheney and Trump... Would you have bothered to show up? I wouldn't have. I'm not saying Kamala is actually as bad as Cheney (who I consider to be the most evil human on earth) but for young people barely paying attention, or paying a lot of attention to the whole getting arrested for protesting genocide thing, they might not have seen much difference and felt turned off by the whole thing, so didn't show up.

The question is, why would 10 million Biden voters, not show up this time? And I think the answer is, no one gave them a good enough reason to... And that's on the Dems who should have been figuring out what those people want and promising to fight for it instead of figuring out what maga wants and fighting for that

Or they do care but don't see enough of a difference between parties to matter which is in power

They'll be abandoned by the big corporate donors, but that's the point... They need a message so popular that real people will support them with money and votes

The one thing Trump and Bernie had in common was they both started by recognizing and validating people's feeling that shit is fucked up, and saying they were going to change things for the better... One was a lying conman, but most people aren't trying to get that far into the weeds

This is basically the only thing they tried... You're saying they should have just tried harder at what they were already doing... In reality they needed an entirely different approach
