Trying to find a good self-hosted alternative for client-sode encrypted personal cloud. I have given Seafile a try, but it's android app is pretty bad. It doesn't show any thumbnails of images, and it also downloads every single file I click to view.

Im looking for something that behaves a litte more like mega.nz Where, using the app or Web, I can view pictures and videos, and then download them if I want.

Files being completely encrypted in the server is a must.

My problem with portainer is that, if I deploy a stack (compose) via docker compose cli, it has limited control inside portainer. Is this the same? Or does this play nicely with compose files deployed outside of it?

My expressVPN 2year plan is about to expire in February. I am seriously considering switching to Proton, especially since I already use protonMail as the inbox for my Anonaddy instance. What's your experience with Proton?

I live in a flat, and my heating system is a combi-boiler with radiators in every room. My current thermostat is not a smart one; it's the stock one that comes with the boiler. In my previous home, we had a Google Nest, and I enjoyed the flexibility of turning it on/off with my phone. The problem is that, in this flat, the thermostat is located near the entrance door, in the hallway that leads to the rooms and the living room. This area doesn't have any radiators and is usually unoccupied. As a result, it is by far the coldest part of the flat. Due to this, I can't really set the thermostat to any temperature, since by the time the thermostat's location reaches that temperature, the rest of the house is boiling!

I'm thinking maybe I should use a smart thermostat that has a remote sensor? I could put this sensor in the living room or bedroom. (I know there are more advanced sensors that can turn each radiator on/off and control by room, but the flat is small, and I don't think I need that granular control).

My vaultwarden and addi.io (former anonaddy) and immich are a KEY part of my homelab. Me (and my family) heavily rely on these 2 services in specific. All the rest can be considered superfluous.
