The only Seiko I have is a gift from my daughter. Means more to me than my $10k JLC. I'm sure your dad will love what you choose for him.

About 15 years of collecting...ups and downs, selling and keeping. Another significant birthday is coming up and I'm considering either a Zenith chrono or either a Longines Zulu or Tudor Black Bay GMT (I travel a lot, the GMT would be useful.)

No. The strap is the weak point, it's not very durable rubber especially with exposure to salt water. I'm on my third strap.

My first serious watch was an Oris Big Crown BC3 and it’s less than $1200
