To add to what everyone else is saying, it's often self inflicted via culture. When you're brought up to treat people who look different as not part of your group, that's hard to unlearn as adults and so it just self perpetuates and you end up with groups of people that never interact, sometimes fearing anyone not in "their group" for no other reason. Or even for flawed inaccurate reasons.

Sounds like a real stand-up neighborhood. Shot and bleeding kid asking for your help? Better neutralize the threat before getting help.

It's like the whole neighborhood cosplays as cops/soldiers and thinks everything unfamiliar is a threat.

Mixing storage and processing is now cool again. It's just called hyper converged infrastructure.

I suspect that the same someone who approved that sign also designed it themselves to save a buck and then later had a meltdown about their lack of employer rights.

This is exactly why I just don't associate with anyone. Can't be connected with a pedophile if you're just not connected to any other humans. 🧠

Yeah, it's not ideal but it's a workaround that works consistently and is mostly transparent for me since I don't change the sort order much any more.

FWIW you can get scaled by setting your user default sort on your instance. A restart of Sync shows the scaled sort but it doesn't show as an option to reselect so you have to get back to your default view again somehow to revert the sort. Usually I just restart the app.

We took a road trip yesterday and one of the direction steps said "There's a $RESTAURANT (Treat) on your right in 75 miles!"

I was pretty instantly annoyed and yet I'm not sure what else I expected.

Don't dozens of games that old and older have better world gen?

Like Dwarf Fortress, which is old enough to drink in the US.

Having seen some of the things Gabe has done, like personally delivering the first Steam Decks and constantly speaking at gaming conferences and doing panels, etc, I think a lot of it is him. I do worry about whether he has a succession plan in place.
