Do you mean something link subdomain.domain.tld? Because I have that set up with namecheap

Was bought out by dotdash a few years ago. Been on a steady decline ever since. The old content is still there, so it still works as a reference, but the new stuff is not of the same quality

This is true. Would probably be much easier technically and legally if they already own it, though.

That's interesting. So they buy the domain on your behalf and then rent it out to you. Pretty cool concept

That said, I've owned a fair few domains and never had to deal with 3rd parties, so I'm not sure if the added security risk (however small) of them hijacking your domain is worth it. For me, at least. YMMV

So it's possible to run it without signing up. Thats good news. All the reviews seem to say it's a requirement for the initial set up

Are there any special steps to get your set up? I imagine you need to side load your apps because the play store won't work, but is there anything else?

I suppose I could use someone else's account for initial set up. I've had a look and it seems nextdns allows different profiles per device, so I'll just block as many google domains as I can that way

That's disappointing, but not surprising. Probably no point in shelling out for a shield if it's not as powerful with Lineage

Tbh, I'd be happy with side loading both Plex and revanced, but from what I've seen, it won't initialize without a google account

What makes a registrar more privacy focused than another. Just had a read of their website, but couldn't understand why they're better for privacy than any other

Everyone keeps saying it's the best media player, so I'm interested in getting one, but I haven't had a google account for many years now and don't want to create a new one just for this.

Does anyone know if it's possible to run one without a google account?

Edit: I would only want to use it for Plex and maybe youtube

I've not heard about this. Does anyone have a link to share? Can't find one myself

I currently have my Plex server open to the world. I realise that's probably not best practice, so I'm trying to find a solution that can work for me.

I've been looking at cloudflare tunnels and it seems like thats probably what I want. Giving me access to my home server from outside. And it's free, which is a nice perk

I've noticed however that the terms of service don't allow for video streaming, but is allowed in the paid tier. Before I commit to spending money, I'm curious if it's even technically possible. Plex tends to phone home to allow users to authenticate and locate their servers, so is that possible through tunnels?

Is this a waste of time? Is there a better solution? How are others dealing with this problem?

I have a phone with a Spanish Sim, but when I'm abroad, I still get websites redirect me to the Spanish version, when I'd prefer to see the local one. This happens even when I'm on WiFi, but I'm guessing it's something to do with my Sim?

Does anyone know how they do this, and if there is a way of overriding it?
