I could also imagine DRM, though not directly privacy related, being a thing. Like the issues of freedom and openness are probably also important to many people who value privacy and might therefore prefer GOG or something over Steam.

Amazon thought it could compete with Steam because it was so much larger than Valve, but Prime Gaming's former VP admits that 'gamers already had the solution to their problems' in c/pcgaming@lemmy.ca

Easy: Amazon just gotta invent new problems for gamers! And then sell the solution.
