So happy to finally find a politician who agrees with me

This is the real problem, I don't feel like we desperately need legislation to stop people losing their life savings on these, it's the fucking institutional investors I don't trust. They risk my savings account for their grift and the government has to bail them out.

In some sense our large contributions to Ukraine earlier in the war could be seen as us fighting Russia via proxy. If I recall correctly our involvement with conflicts in Syria were also seen similarly, as us fighting a Russian proxy state. My understanding is that war between nuclear powers often looks like this because all out war could escalate to nuclear weapons too quickly. All this to say, I think we were already at war with Russia before Trump regained office.

The 13M type numbers came out early and captured a lot of attention but didn't have much legitimacy, but they anchored people's expectations. The smaller numbers are coming out now and have much more legitimacy. They may be smaller but in the big picture this is all still impressive, the movement is big and growing

These rallies/protests/whatever are exactly how you build momentum for a general strike.

A general strike is useless without a significant percentage of the population joining. As these protests keep happening the attendees trust that the networks that are drawing them together will step with them into more drastic action, like a general strike. We are building a small amount of trust and cooperation between literally millions of people. It's not going to happen overnight.

I think a lot of awfulness is just the result of a poor internal model of the world. Intentionally spreading a poor model of the world is an effective propaganda strategy and often done. However it is difficult to tell apart people who have been lied to and people who have been unintentionally misled.

I think a great many people, myself included, have been misled about a great many things. Mostly not even out of maliciousness, but because reality is not as obvious as it could be. Our perspectives are often so limited. My takeaway from all this is to try and broaden my perspective, and when possible, give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they just need some new information, or the removal of a malign influence.
