I’m new to this as well, I just chose this instance to switch to (also from lemm.ee) because I’m queer and knew this instance did a good job keeping out assholes.
In general I think most instances on here are leftist or at least left-leaning. The general recommendation for lemm.ee users is currently lemmy.zip, if you want a dedicated political instance I only know of the anarchist lemmy.dbzer0.com (though they are too defensive of genAI for my taste) and the European Federalist feddit.org.

They’ve got a lot of genuine tankies on there, and not just the „West is bad“ kind, but also a lot of „The Russian invasion of the Ukraine is justified and the Tiananmen massacre didn’t happen“
The only difference in their favor I can currently see is that they’re not actively bombing another country to the ground. Internally, the human rights situation is „just as fucked“ at least even if you only take into account what their government itself says.
