What I'm looking for it's not a dongle but a full on android device that relies on android auto for interfacing with a user; its closer to a tv box than to a dongle; the one i remember had a mediatek chip so rooting it to add other stuff was easy.

Edit: i was able to find the original product, it' the finedrive AI 2 which is a korean product that is out of production, so no luck on getting one

Then it may be something that mull is blocking to prevent fingerprinting that duolingo doesn't like, I don't know how to help in this case other than installing something like fennec in a work profile with shelter; sorry.

Not sure really; it may be because either jdownloader has a self updating function (i dont think its this one because it could be patched out like most repos patch telemetry out of audacity) or because it has very frequent updates to keep the site scrapers and downloaders working since it's a continous arms race between them and the websites ( i'm not sure if repos have nightly builds of programs or not).

You can try with an extension that changes the user agent of your browser; if you use the one from either firefox or chrome for android it should work. Usually its the only thing checked by sites when identifing browsers for non telemetry reasons; if the problem persists I'm not sure what it could be

Just as a quick tip, check the armbian csc forum for the type of processor, or even better, if someone has already attempted to do mod your device; they are pretty nice folks. in general i suggest to get a box with an rk3328 or an rk3318( essentially a binned 3328) since you cant brick them and worst of all cases; you can do what i did and cnock the emmc off and still have a working box

I have installed linux on a €20 tv box because i needed a print server; it turned in a 2 month adventure that only ended when i cnocked the emmc off the board and started booting from sd card( and due to how unknown the hardware is, there is very little support); I'd consider it mostly a side project to do if you are willing to risk losing the stick and just like to toy with this stuff; not something to do out of actual need.

Boy do i miss cheap sbcs.

Ps. Dont bother with the stock os; when i booted the box for the fist time with his original os i saw a spike in my pi hole's blocked domains; yikes...

Mine are getting a bit of an upgrade... I found two 26" speakers ripped from an old stage set and a bag of identical tweeters in my dad's old stuff, I'm currently soldering together a crossover circuit and an amplifier that won't die while trying to run this whole mess; you can bet a bomb threat is gonna be called when genesis and waters of nazareth hit

Ayyy another justice listener, nice; how are your speakers doing btw?

Just a thing for making it more sufferable; i remember that there was a program for linux called xkeycaps to edit keyboard layouts; so you could swap the backslash with the normal one. I used it so long ago that I'm not even sure if it still available and working though

After a while it becomes muscle memory; the good thing is that you can see if someone is a programmer/linux user because the key for the numer 7 is more worn out than most of the others

I program with the italian layout and i's fine, the only annoyances are that to use the slash you need to use shift, all while the backslash has a dedicated key; also you need to use alt codes to type a tilde.
