Mumble is self hosted and works great for voice and text chat. There's also IRC. It's almost as old as the internet, but it runs on anything.

It would have to become law in every country in order to work.

I did swap a drive from an Intel desktop to an AMD desktop. It worked with no issues. Just make sure the kernel is new enough to support the CPU in the new PC before swapping the drive.

It's been ages since I've used Adobe Reader. I typically use Okular or Xreader. They are both tiny compared to Adobe's bloatware.

You can also create aliases for frequently used commands. You can even put a function in an alias so it can accept arguments, but it would probably be better to just write a shell script at that point.

It must be the PD trigger chip that does that then. With every PD trigger module I've used, I get a lower voltage if the requested one is not supported. It doesn't stay at 5V unless that's all the power supply supports.

The connectors are held in place with a roll pin that goes through the hole. They fit tightly in the panel mount. The pin just keeps them from pushing back out.

Probably my panel mounts for Anderson PowerPole connectors. I use them just about everywhere that I need a 12V DC power outlet.

There are plenty of chargers that support a fixed 12V output without needing PPS. Just check the specs before buying one.

If you use a CH224K USB PD trigger chip, it has a power good pin. It will go low if the power supply is providing the requested voltage. You can use it with a MOSFET and driver circuit to switch the output on only when it gets the correct voltage.

12V support is optional in USB PD. If the power supply doesn't support it, you will get 9V instead. PPS support is even less common.

Fusion would be much more practical than beaming back power from space. I think the chance of seeing either of those by 2050 is about 0%.

If everything written in those "obsolete" languages suddenly disappeared, the whole world would go dark.
