For a second I thought these were places to escape the country from ... you know, for reasons.

in case you weren't aware, Reason is a right-wing publication whose foundation is primarily funded by one of the Koch brothers

honestly I think it is less about health or safety and more about the disgust people feel - it really might just be irrational and nothing more

72 million voters voted for Trump, that's not equivalent with embracing Trump's hatred. Trump's base is bigoted and hateful, but that doesn't mean every voter is. A lot of them seem clueless, by all accounts. I think a lot of them were just voting against the incumbent because they were upset about price gouging and inflation.

Her steps to the right might earn her votes from the educated white neoconservative crowd, I don't think moving further to the left aligns her with swing state voters even if I wish that were the case.

even so, I would prefer my typo go to DuckDuckGo and then I choose among those options than be auto-corrected and directed to an irrelevant website Firefox chose (which is what happens to me). That said, I'm not usually going to a top 250 website, so - your use case might be different.

"Experimental archaeology" might be a good search term for finding resources on how to make and use an atlatl.

I think you just accidentally articulated the theory of virtue ethics. How do you know what you should do? Do what you think a good person would do. πŸ˜†

I use Firefox Focus as well, but I had to disable the "top 250 websites" recommendations when typing in the URL bar, it's like adverts to my mind.

I usually felt this way about the Christian families with lots of children who would come into the restaurant after church and treat everyone rudely and make a huge mess. They did it every Sunday, and it never changed over a period of years. I know they were probably just exhausted and miserable themselves, but lots of exhausted and miserable people out there aren't so entitled, inconsiderate, and rude to workers. Still, it didn't make me feel like not working, I just didn't want to serve those people.

Musk announced the $1 million giveaway at an event in Harrisburg, Pa., on Saturday. The event was part of a tour supporting Trump.

β€œI have a surprise for you," Musk said shortly before bringing out a giant check. "We are going to be awarding $1 million to people who have signed the petition β€” every day, from now until the election.”

"If you look at the conditions, you must be a registered voter," Hasen said. "And so this is essentially a lottery that's open only to people who register to vote. So it’s either an incentive for someone to vote or it’s a reward. And either way, it violates federal law."

He calls Musk's actions "clearly illegal" because it violates statute 52 U.S.C. 10307(c) and the Department of Justice’s election manual.

Hasen said willful violation of statute 52 U.S.C. 10307(c) comes with a $10,000 fine and up to five years in prison.

"I don't think it would be likely that he would suffer such a serious fine," Hasen said of Musk. "Although, if he was warned that this is illegal activity and continued to do it, I think that would create a different kind of situation."

Just wanted to put it on your radar in case you didn't know about the show (I only found out about it by accident). I think it's available on Netflix.

The show was written by an enby and the cast includes a trans man and Suzy Eddie Izzard.
