Yes, millions of people have done this.

$400 for a decent apartment is very tough these days in Bogota. I would learn more towards $800-$1000 if you want a one bedroom in a nice neighborhood.

Many of us have residency in our home country and travel/work a few months of the year. Others do jobs like teaching English to travel full time on a low budget. A third option is to create your own business, grind it out and find a market.

Don't use Marketplace, use groups specifically for short-term rentals in the city. You can see the history of the poster and feedback on previous experiences.

You will still be in the situation of being asked for a deposit and trusting a contract. That's why AirBnb tends to be the best option.

If you have a credit card, you can just book a fully refundable flight for free and then refund it after you clear security.

Few of the comments are offering much value to the OPs question. They are just telling him to pay high taxes and enjoy it.

I second what someone else said on Paraguay. But you have to want to live there (pros and cons)

Can't you keep your plan with Verizon but just scale it down to a much lower price? I pay $10/month with my carrier when I am away

Keep in mind: Milei has to navigate a Congress opposed to his plans. His hands will largely be tied. There are a lot of unknowns still.

Yeah - You could live comfortably in Cuba for $1000 (or less if you really want to live like a local). Not a great location to be a DN though.
