They protect and serve the state first and foremost; any positives they happen to provide citizens in general are not the point and certainly not mandatory when at odds with whims of those in power.

They've made it impossible (as far as I can tell) to make truly anonymous accounts anymore which are not shadow banned. They require at least one bit of doxxing info nowadays.
