Getting a "new" phone number might be a way to disconnect you from that number if you keep it on the down low, but there's a high probability your gonna get someones old number that died or lost it and has LOTS of people/companies that wanna contact this number.

When my son got a phone (and number), the previous owner didn't tell anyone, not her pharmacy, not her friends and family. It took a long time to get all that BS behind us.

Curse you "Darla"!

I almost replied similarly, just means they didn't sell many BASE models.

I live in a relatively rural area outside a city "highway loop" and I see them all the time here. Someone down the road at a small business owns one so I see that one all the time but there are plenty around here and often wrapped in some weird colors.

Hello fellow Hoosier

it's an indicator... But, with all the "stuff" going on, it could have just been the current 'hot topic' which voters were tricked into "if we don't support THIS terrible thing, the democrats are going to do THAT terrible thing" and its not necessarily reflective of actual beliefs.

So, did they vote the way their constituents wanted? This Tuesday's results would disagree with that no?

Great, I bought one like 6mo ago and have it running on frigate...

You can disable shorts on grayjay, of course you need an android device.

so, they enable it the least disruptive place (for their shorts) at least IMHO, because more likely people on their phone would look at shorts over a set top / desktop environment watchers. Hopefully it rolls out to these as well

Not defending Google, but how many employees do they have? Did they all get raises this year? I bet license deals from the music industry probably went up too. (No proof but assuming)

But I agree 100%, they are without a doubt no longer following "don't be evil". But it's disingenuous to believe they're annual costs are not increasing along with literally everything else.

Speaking for everyone?

I pay because I use yt music and my PRIMARY tv watching is YT, and I use one or the other all day long.

YT has no ads, and I can skip with the press of a button most creator ads so it's kinda nice and easy. (Yes I know what sponsor block is and it's installed on Firefox so one less button press on my pc)

Do I pay YouTube FOR the creators? Nope I pay so I can sign in / watch yt or listen to my music anywhere without jumping through hoops.

I also have / sometimes use grayjay on my phone (and I paid futo for it to support it) I have smart tube next on my Nvidia shield too. My wife/son use it mostly.

I sync yt music to my Garmin watch for running, I run about 20 miles a week so add that to feature I'm paying for.

I downloaded a handful of videos before flying to CA earlier this week, but the flights had WiFi so that didn't really give me anything special ;)

Can I do all this without paying, sure, but I don't mind paying for stuff I get value from.

Am I happy about $4/mo increase? Absolutely not, but it's not gonna break me either. $4/30 is .13c a day.

If you do you'll be supporting Ticketmaster more than Bruce because.... 'Merica

There's this...

Outside of Cincinnati and noticed I had no service around 11am. Started checking around ant it seems it's pretty widespread.

So, I never visit McDonald's. Oddly, I have managed to visit them twice this year. Once a month ago while traveling and it just worked out that it made the most sense when we stopped for fuel while traveling.

And second last night. We were at the lake late and coming home just before 9pm. Most non chain places were closing, and the only local spot open was McDonald's. Had the whole family including my visiting parents.

The experience was pretty awful. First, they had 3 employees in the building, and the expectation was that you use the Kiosk. I didn't have 'strong' opinions of having to use it vs. speaking to a human. However after ordering 4 meals on it, it is quite the nightmare for the casual visitor. Probably took 4x as long to order our food.

My parents took their order on a second Kiosk and were not even able to complete their order (Parents are in their mid 70s). Not sure what happened, I wasn't watching them. My dad was quite irritated at this point.

After asking one of the humans multiple times for help, he took their order at the register.

<insert 30 minute wait for food>

Our food was placed in their pickup area in bags with napkins (store napkin holder empty). Nearly every burger was overcooked and quite dry. Both my buns were hard. The fry's were luke warm and not very fresh. The meal for 2 adults and 2 14yos was $40 bux.

I saw a story on Lemmy last week about how McDonald's profits were down and the general consensus was that it was the over priced food. While I'm sure that has an impact I believe the Kiosk, slow 'fast food' and overall experience has to be a huge negative.

My parents were PISSED, and they are historically huge McD Patrons. At least in their case, the price will not be why they do not return. Its the awful experience.

Was hoping this would sort itself out, but after a couple weeks it's still there. Scrolling not always smooth, and swiping back from a post is always very studdery.

Wondering if others are experiencing this? Phone is 2 weeks old, came from a Pixel 7 Pro which didn't have this problem.
