Not to say people shouldn't leave Twitter, but like...this isn't going to devastate him. He's in the inner circle. Twitter could burn down and I doubt he would even notice.

Just pointing it out. Lots of people probably would've said the same about FB before. Who knows wtf is going to happen in the next few years.

Worth considering that if Twitter ever ends up on the fediverse, the same will apply to any instance it federates with. Lemmy may be great because it's not corporate, but its functionality necessitates that it be one of the least private versions of social media available.

Some determitive nominalism.

He's right, but not for the reason he thinks. AAAs continuing to prove indies are the best place to find interesting games.

Surprisingly relevant to me as yesterday I ran myself over with my tank in Factorio for the first time ever XD

If it's a site you use often, right-click and "block element" is your friend. Might be able to sus out a universal block as well if you dig around the different elements there.

The notion that he cares about anyone other than himself is laughable. He has nothing to gain from the party if he's not in office anymore, and he'll burn it all down before he gets dragged out.

10 million more american voters voted for donald trump this time than did the last time

This absolutely untrue. He got less votes than he did last time.

It was luck that last time he had no fucking clue what he was doing. He still doesn't, but this time he's listening to people that see how useful he is in their goals to upend the entire country.

Care to list some of the others? I could use some contextualization, cause this feels pretty fucking bad.

Planning to watch through Jordan Peele's movies for the spooky season and thought it'd be nice to expand that out to other movies from POC creatives. My current list includes Sorry to Bother You (another favorite of mine I've been meaning to rewatch), Bad Hair, Horror Noire, and Ganja & Hess. Any other movies that fit the theme that you would suggest? They certainly don't have to stick to African American/Black creatives, and English isn't a must, but would be preferred.

One of mine is Commit This to Memory by Motion City Soundtrack. I basically took the title verbatim and know the album word for word. And while I would love if it did, the rest of MCS's stuff just doesn't hit the same way.

And if you're not an album person, maybe a period of time in the artist's work? Whatever works for you.

*Lots of mentions of hit debut albums that subsequently petered out, which follows with the dreaded sophomore slump that hits many artists. Anyone with mid or even later career albums that stand alone? Those always intrigue me.

For one, even if I wanted to use it, piped never works for me.

Second, on mobile, my alternative of choice doesn't recognize everyone's non-yt links, so it removes my choice in the matter.

Third, I have no reason to trust the weird-ass domains I see, and to un-fuck the url takes much more time then just handing out the original YT links and letting people choose for themselves how they view the video.

The instance I'm on just did the update and this comment highlighting is really throwing me off. It's super glaring and unpleasant imo and I'd really appreciate the ability to turn it off. I've looked around a bit but haven't found anything myself. Am I missing something?

Considering the latest rash of spam images plaguing the platform, I decided to figure out how to block embeds entirely since I never really liked them in the first place and am sharing what I got working since I figured it might be something others would like to enable themselves. (Fyi, this method requires uBlock Origin)

  • Open your uBlock settings and navigate to the 'My Filters' section
  • At the bottom of the document, add two breaks and then paste this:
lemm.ee##p > span
  • If your instance is different than lemm.ee, then replace that with the instance you use to have it work.

With that enabled, images and videos shouldn't load in comments anymore. I'm sure there's a better way to do this, so feel free to share if you know! This is just what I knew how to get work asap. Hope it helps some people!

*0.19 seems to have borked the method I previously posted, but I was able to find another string that works that seems to be more efficient anyhow. Hopefully this one works for a while! I'm going to leave the old strings at the bottom here just to cover all bases. To reiterate, these are the old strings that, afik, do NOT work anymore.

No shade intended. I was just seeing some art from the new MtG Doctor Who cards and for whatever reason decided to look up what the Menoptra looked like originally and the disparity really cracked me up.
