context matters

i wonder if the words "latine" and "latinx" are a manifestation of democrats being out of touch here. the article accurately describes how we're a heterogeneous mix of people; but seems unaware of some things like how using the word latine reduces the audience to young urban liberal americans only.

also: only the out of touch were surprised; anyone who watches telemundo or univision enough already knew that trump was going to win due to the rampant & mostly unchecked misinformation that defined spanish media during the election.

finally: their take on the evangelicals influence misses the point. yes, there are fewer latino evangelicals than there are latino catholics; but the evangelicals proselytize HEAVILY and that's expanding their control over many of the most pivotal voting districts in this country that used to be democratic strongholds like the rio grande valley in texas; the imperial valley in california; and the central suburbs of chicagoland.

actions speak louder than words and the democrats' out-of-touch actions led to their defeat.

the democrats literally broke campaign fund raising records and their donor list includes some of the richest oligarchs on this planet.

it was clear that they barely tried at all on univision and telemundo based on the professionally-polished trump-loving pundits mopping the floor with unpracticed volunteers and nonprofits; it was like watching the debate but in reverse with trump's side dominating the discourse just as hard as kamala did.

i think that the democrats just assumed that latinos would vote for them anyways like they did with almost everyone else.

part of me wishes that the democrats spent money to put up a decent fight against the VERY rampant misinformation in spanish media instead of using the money to attack third party candidates.

i want to believe that the democrats could have won; but they're so good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory that they still would have let trump win again.

bluesky will eventually enshitify like reddit and twitter did and like all social media platforms with investors/financiers behind them always do. (reddit in particular promised not to enshitify at the beginning just like bluesky is promising right now).

be ready to find a new social platform like you had to do with reddit in another 4 to 9 years if you go with bluesky.

even bluesky's original creator already left bluesky because of the enshitification and helped develop nostr instead to compete with it.
