Even if YT gave all the money to the creators, ads are so cheap nowadays that it would need them approx 20.000 ad views just to pay a month of premium (and that's assuming every cent goes to them) big creators and publishers sure make money out of ads, in the end they get millions of views. But a smaller creator thst works hours upon hours on a video is making probs less than minimum wage through ads. Ergo If they want to make money they need to rely on generous people.

The balls of naming a community "news" and removing stuff that isn't of interest to a small fraction of the world population on an instance that should represent the whole world.

After like what, 3 months of A/B testing in one country? Sinking ship gonna sink.

We are pretty happy with framework, tuxedo and system76 even if their products often cost loads of money and for sure aren't perfect.

This made me think, if whatever company runs these kernel-level rootkit anti cheats get hacked, and since these anti cheats are absolutely proprietary can't the hackers modify the code to, basically, create a giant genshin impact gamer botnet?

If you really wanna support them give them a dollar on PayPal, to a creator 1000 views are worth 1/2dollars, ergo it's pretty hard for them to make even just a mere dollar off of you through ads, I block all ads and donate when their content is useful/entertaining

I know quite a few oxygen addicts then...

Jokes aside, saying that WhatsApp is an addiction is like saying that Americans are addicted to SMS, Imessage or whatever they use down there

Wow really? This may explain why valve likes Linux so much (at least in part, it's an untapped market, 10 other reasons etc)

I can't see lemmygrad uniting with lemmy.world, not in a million decades. Not in traditional political stuff at least, they both support FOSS at least. (except one of them censors piracy instances but oh well)
