While i do think people are exaggerating that google is useless, and the kagi push on lemmy is suspiciously strong, I do still hate what google has become. It lies to me almost every time I ask it what movie an actor has been in.

google claims Alan Tudyk is in Andor when he isn't. There are one or two articles of people suggesting that he might end up in Andor, but nothing official. Google pulls from the rumors and says “yep, he’s clearly in Andor”. The way i search this is by typing just an actors name then clicking the “movies and tv” option.

I refuse to pay for a search engine. DDG is alright, not great, but at least it doesnt lie to me.

Speaking of bad King films. Maximum Overdrive is a favorite in my family, not over the big name movies like IT and The Stand, but we love it. The vending machine, the green goblin truck, “CUURTIIISSS, CURTIS ARE YOU DEAD???”

I’m glad he’s doing so much better. But wow what a poorly written article. It opens with a quick synopsis. Then it repeats each sentence under a header, tacking on an additional half a sentence for the rest of the article. It feels like AI writing.

The devs said this rollout may take up to a week to work out the major issues, then they expect it to resolve. Hopefully your app catches up soon, and the deployment of 0.19 goes well! I don’t have a lemmy.ml account so I can’t check, but the app I use (voyager) says it is ready for the 0.19 update and theoretically shouldn’t break.
