The interpretation of those two jumping in to be rude as hell is not exclusive from acknowledging disagreements in the past. Particularly in that is already implied with my original comment there as I referenced my experience.

There was absolutely no reason for those two to act that way there, even if their intention was to attempt to point out that they think I was in the wrong in the previous encounters. "I think you were the one in the wrong at those times you're referring to." Or something along those lines accomplishes the same goal without being an asshole or making clearly false claims.

Ironically, their choice to be such assholes in that circumstance adds quite a bit of evidence that the dbzer0 people were the ones in the wrong.

-- Edit --
Actually, your links provide proof of the lies as well. That was when I blocked the dbzer0 instance, as I mentioned in those threads, and that was 3 months ago. So, how could I have been "constantly trolling in [dbzer0's] comms" as Flatworm/Unruffled claimed? That's exactly the kind of shit that I'm talking about. These admins, as well as some mods and users, are willing to straight up lie. And since they are admins, users have a tendency to just believe them and not even bother looking into things themselves.

Edit: I don't care about pro or anti-AI, but this seems to be the new division point around her

I thought the division point was zero? lol.
Should it be lemmy.dba1.com now?

What other interpretation could there even be?

My comment made no claims regarding the user from the main post or actions against them, it was only in regard to the claim about db0. That's why I explained that the only context has to do with that first comment thread.

I was not rude at all, just that I disagreed. Why does that mean it's okay for those two to jump in to rudely make false claims?

The real context is that I was merely disagreeing with db0 being chill based on my own experience. Flatworm/Unruffled and Eugene then busted in being rude as hell for just disagreeing. You supported that behavior.

dbzer0, actually. I literally just had a recent encounter with the admin Flatworm/Unruffled where they decided to needlessly pick a fight. They were backed up by other dbzer0 users, including @Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com, in fact.

Ending? Let's start with that one!

[–] gofsckyourself@lemmy.world 25 points 4 months ago (1 children)

omg they said the popular fad thing

[–] gofsckyourself@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I don't expect perfection from anywhere. But yeah, nowhere better to go is kinda the main issue. I feel trapped and surrounded.

Explained in another comment but trying to even explain is just making me want to delete everything.

It's more than a few. It's several admins, a handful of their followers, nearly an entire instance's users (even after blocking it), prolific posters that mod dozens of comms and people will rally behind them regardless of how much of an asshole they are being to you, and even one user in particular that was banned but is now hiding under a new account.

It's also partly how the platform works which feeds the most toxic users. It's how the platform seems to entice people into stricter tribalistic behavior than other platforms. Say anything that might be construed as negative towards one of the many things these groups base their entire identity on and you get swarmed by them and you can't even defend yourself. You get downvoted to hell and they get upvoted for being assholes by their other cult-like followers. Not that votes "matter", but it just makes it feel shitty when someone decides to be an asshole to you and they get supported for it while trying to defend yourself only gets more people against you.

There's more, but trying to describe it all is making me feel worse.

This place sucks. It's absolutely awful that I feel this is actually true, but reddit was better than this.

I wish I felt the same way, but other users are making it frustrating and draining. I'm contemplating leaving. But, I don't know of anything similar to browse, other than Reddit and I refuse to use their app or pay a subscription for another.

I'm never gonna give it up.

I would greatly like to be able to filter posts that link to certain domains.

For example, I want to filter all posts that link to the gamingonlinux website, because the owner of that website sucks and I find that site to be overall useless.

I guess that this 50501 movement has somehow gained some recent popularity from somewhere, but the sheer volume of content, communities, and even instances seems weird.

Where did this all come from and why did it seem to come as a sudden flood?

Is there a way to limit the size of posts in the "full" layout? I prefer this style over the cards, but some posts are really.... really.........reaaaallly long.

Today, I changed the batteries in all my smoke detectors. I noticed that the battery light in one was blinking. Instead of only replacing the one with a new normal 9v battery, I ordered a pack of 10-year lithium 9v batteries and replaced them all. Now I don't have to worry about changing them for a handful of years.

Edit - Funnily enough, dinner put them to the test. I was going to test them tomorrow when the kiddo is at daycare.

I noticed the other day that the majority of the content on !comicstrips@lemmy.world are made by accounts that are deleted after making some posts. Most often no comments are made by these burner accounts, but sometimes they will create a new separate account to respond to comments.

Is there any real privacy benefits for this over something like having a single separate account you post only images and no text posts?

Is there a tool that facilities creating short-term accounts like this?

I'm looking for an app, that does not have ads or in-app purchase kind of stuff, that has a robust feature to add text over an image. I want to be able to customize the text's font face, size, style (bold, italic, underline, etc), color, outline, and background.

Even better would be if it allows me to start by pasting an image from clipboard, and more so if I can copy the image back to clipboard after edits.

Ideally, something that is FOSS, but I wouldn't mind paying for an app if it's good and doesn't have a bunch of needless tracking.

Thanks y'all!

I'm trying to figure out how I can choose an image in my clipboard when the media picker window comes up.

For example, if I'm on imgur.com and I want to upload an image in my clipboard, there is no option for me to paste into the input field.

Ideally, I would like to have something available in the media picker to paste from clipboard. That would allow using clipboard for any app.

I kinda consider this something like adding the clipboard to the "share" menu. https://github.com/tengusw/share_to_clipboard

Is there anything like this?

I do not have root access on my phone.

I would love for a convenient way to copy a user's name, like gofsckyourself@lemmy.world, from a user's comment or post.

Similarly, I would like to be able to copy the community's name from a post, comment, or the community page itself, like !syncforlemmy@lemmy.world

When you receive a notification of a reply to a comment you made, it would be very useful to be able to access the post itself, rather than just the parent comment thread.

Is there any particular reason why pasting an image from clipboard works in some places, but not others? I have not been able to determine what prevents it from working? Is this an issue with Sync? It doesn't seem to depend on the Lemmy instance.
