Immigrants are not the reason housing prices are going up, nor that your wages are staying the same or going down, that's just not what's happening. The population of germany has been largely stagnant for decades. There is only an additional 14 million people in Germany today than there was in 1955! Only 4 million more compared to 2010! A 5% increase in the total population over 15 years is not the reason housing is up nearly 50% in the last 10 years.

Immigrants are not any part of the problem, they are the only reason Germany as a country is able to continue functioning because without immigrants coming in Germany would be closing businesses down left and right. No, the reason wages are stagnant and housing is up is ENTIRELY because the current system rewards the rich when they buy more housing at costs normal people couldn't compete it. The current system rewards the rich for squeezing their bottom line and ensuring the worker s don't see their share of the profits.

You're right the media is the battle we need to be fighting, but I want to make very clear that the CDU and AFD are not winning or gaining ground because they're right. They're successful because they sound like they're right because human nature is to fear the other group of people. They have no good ideas, they have no solutions, and we know this because they won't admit the real problem. We just watched Merz give money to military contractors, using debt he won't raise taxes on the rich to pay for, and wants to slash the societal benefits normal Germans rely on every year. They will shout immigrants, while stealing money from the pockets of real Germans, their neighbors, and their kids - all so they don't have to tax the rich and powerful because it keeps them in positions of power.

Please guys, just vote progressives in and tax the rich. The AFD, like the CDU, will only make this country worse for everyone but the rich.

Immigrants aren't the ones buying your houses, failing to give you raises, and putting Germany in debt. It's the rich.

We left this month, wife is moving to YouTube premium as a way to ease her out of straming services and I'm building our collection of music every month through self-hosting so when she's ready there's a large library for her.

It's been great buying music from artists and listening to whole albums which is not something I normally do.

Spotify doesn't support their artists as far as I'm aware, what money they do spend on creators it's people like Joe Rogan, and they continue to increase the price every month. I'm tired of paying for techno fascist's next Yacht (or election) and this is just one way we're slowly pulling away from subscriptions.

Bruh, are you unstable too or just an Internet dweller with one issue on their mind. This guy was being a dick, he wasn't even expressing his political opinions he was just being a fuckin loser - small communities don't need to suffer losers trying to ruin the conversation for no other reason than they're having a bad day.

Also, who says America bombed this guy? He could be a troll in Russia or a red pilled teenager in Tennessee for all we fuckin know.

Tagging doesn't block someone, it just lets you remember when you wasted time on someone before hand - so you can down vote and move on, or treat them as they've been asked to be treated. That's not censorship. And even if you block someone, it's only a personal block, I can't stop them from posting or commenting for anyone but me. Again, not censorship.

And even if it did, why would censorship be the wrong move against a person incapable of having an intelligent discussion regardless of where they're from? I don't need every assholes backstory to decide if they've suffered too much to be blocked, that's fuckin crazy. I guess I wouldn't be opposed to a thread designed to air out your grievances about a specific topic, but a community can't allow assholes to run unopposed because then it discourages good people from participating.

So no, your friend is acting like a dick head - they should be labeled and treated as such - and when they're ready to be a mature adult and talk about their feelings productively they should be allowed to. Make a thread sharing your opinions about how shit the US is, id happily participate, literally everyone in the world should have a bone to pick with the US. But don't defend random assholes for being assholes and pretend it's because you think they're upset because they got bombed - that's a level of crazy, unrelated back story creation that isn't valuable to the current conversation.

That's the most red pilled take on therapy I've heard. Therapy is where you go to work through your trauma and emotional issues.

I'm not defending America or Americans you fuckin twat, maybe read this chain before cosplaying as this guy's alt account. We're talking about how they're being a dick to people using very common forum lingo presumably because they're emotionally stunted - Lemmy is too small for immature people to be tolerated.

Fuckin focus on one issue at a time, you wanna debate whether the people of a country should be held accountable for their political systems outputs despite the power being largely decoupled from them - go ahead - but do it in another thread. Maybe where someone's actually talking about issues, instead of addressing bad Internet behaviors.

Lol. I need you to know, you're not hurting mine or anyone else's feelings. You're not that impactful, powerful, or important.

And yes, the US is a shit hole in a lot of ways.

My point is only to say you're an internet troll, who's clearly immature and going through some emotional things right now based off how you treat other humans online. Hopefully you get the therapy and help you need to mature.

Name is DeathToUS, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you've got rage and maturity issues based on how you're conducting yourself online. Luckily Lemmy supports a robust tagging and blocking system.

Sounding off as another kagi user. It's great. If the company doesn't do anything extra stupid or come out pro-techno fascist they'll have my business for life.

If for no other reason than to decrease my digital footprint, get rid of ads, and pay billionaires less.

I'm self-hosting my own music as of recently. I'm paying for every song. I don't have as much music as I did on Spotify, but I'm also A) owning the music B) slowly acquiring more and C) actually paying the artists. For me this is a good step in the right direction.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about music discovery being the reason to not stop paying Spotify. Idk if that's something I'd agree with. First of all, I personally listen to singles and not albums but I've been buying albums simply because that's easiest for a lot of sites (or cause I'm getting them on vinyl). So swapping over has led me to listening to full albums and thus a bit of discovery. That may not apply to everyone though. Several of those albums or artists have had collabs that have turned me on to other artists, again, maybe the music discovery people think this is child's play but it's led to a noticable increase in my collection.

Second, can't you just use Spotify free version to discover music? That's what I plan to do if I'm feeling like my current collection is getting stale. But between friends, other web services for discovery, various platforms like YouTube that happen to unveil a song here and there, indie concerts that show off new openers to me, or what have you I feel like my discovery is more than sufficient to grow the list of music I need to pick up faster than I'm burning it down or becoming bored with it.

Also, I don't understand how discovery can represent a majority of a person's listening habits. Like isn't the point of collecting favorites songs and making large playlists to listen to those things. I've got playlists with like 48 hours of music on them which cause me to not hear a repeat idk, more than once a month if I'm not seeking them out. That's partially because I have 3 playlists or so I rotate through but like... Is music discovery so critical and so exclusive to Spotify that it's worth the subscription. More me it's not.

Not to yuck anyone's yum or anything. Just trying to add an alternative perspective to these pro-spotify comments.

I liked the technical discussion so thank you. Keep it up, I got into this career because there was always so much to learn.

Ya, I can't believe how negative people are towards LTT. That channel is the reason I de-googled when I did, dove into home assistant, even checked out Linux (and now use arch full time by the way). I'm not super interested in defending a company let alone a YouTube personality, but like Jesus Christ some most of the people commenting negatively about LTT need to chill the fuck out. They're not that bad, they clearly pay people well, they're open and honest about most shit. If your bullshit detector is going off with LTT I think it needs tuning because you're probably hitting a lot of false negatives IMHO.

I have no doubt being as wealthy as Linus is is changing him, I have no doubt that's effecting the company, but there's nothing I'm seeing as a regular watcher that is glaringly bad or evil and I recognize in myself I'm actively starting to default to "fuck off" for millionaires so like ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌. I don't think the channel is getting grandfathered in on that clause either, they just seem to like people doing their best.

I don't like Linus's time-theft stance as of late, the most recent multi monitors vid had a comedic discussion between him and an employee and I recognize his job in that role is to be the straight man and say time charging fraud is theft or whatever but it feels out of touch. That's a negative thing I can point to I guess. Am I gonna consider Linus or LTTY evil or shit because he's vocal about theft being theft even though I think corpos can fuck off because they're getting more productivity then we're getting paid - no, no I'm not.

Ah, to own a house... Wouldn't that be neat? And imagine if it wasn't a piece of shit produced at the lowest cost possible by overworked and underpaid builders. Hell, imagine a custom house for my particular tastes!

What a world we could live in if we just taxed the rich out of existence and owned a portion of our work place.

At Gencon it's very obvious where people are playing games after the convention and obvious where to go to meet more people.

I'm here at Essen Spiel for the first time and I have no idea where those kind of pick up hotel games would be taking place.

Does anyone have any advice? Is there an app or website I'm not aware of? Is going to random, nearby hotel lobbies my best bet?
