I love how it's possible to create posts on Lemmy directly from Mastodon. I've been doing this a lot over on !coys@lemmy.world following guidance published here.

It works nicely when an image is attached to a Mastodon post but not so much when you're posting a link. Does anyone know if there's a way to format the Mastodon post so that the link is picked up by Lemmy to be used as the URL field? It would make sense if it simply used the first link found. That's what it does for images: it uses the first image and ignores the rest.

But maybe this isn't possible with links just yet?

As it stands, posting a link creates a discussion post type rather than link post type.

Is Mastodon compatible with Lemmy?

I've been doing this a lot over on https://lemmy.world/c/coys. I mostly post directly from my Mastodon account.

Sometimes I have to jump over and use my Lemmy account because, for example, you can't post links (that I know of) in the same way you can directly on Lemmy.
