???

You know Microsoft already owns chat gpt right?

What's funny is I tend to believe the average Utahn cares about air quality. They have some insanely toxic air when inversions set up in the valley.

But they keep electing politicians that run heavy industry (copper mining, steel smelting, oil and gas refining) in that selfsame valley with 0 oversight.

Tldr: renewables are really cheap and utility partners backed out from buying the energy so it didn't make economic sense.

I can't help but feel that it would make more economic sense if we taxed the fuck out of other stable sources of energy that are killing us (coal/gas).

But it's Utah: they don't give a single shit about air quality or global warming.

They lost against Apple and you can't even install another store on iOS

Ain't got a snowball's chance in hell against Google.

I think it's weird because:

Your iMessage and FaceTime conversations are encrypted end-to-end, so they can’t be read while they’re sent between devices.

Source

Is completely bullshit. It's not secure, they can be read because iMessage is the way you send texts to Android as well as iOS, and apples absolute refusal to budge or to adopt other standards means that regulation is the only way to modernize a 30 year old protocol.

Luddites do not offer solutions: Socialists do.

Don't waste effort opposing tech when you could spend effort promoting socialism: You won't oppose tech anymore than the Luddites did (IE with limited initial success followed by absolute annihilation)

Socialists have actually been successful, unlike Luddites.

Don't be a Luddite: be a socialist.

Because the entire problem with luddites is blaming the wrong cause.

Automation of menial labor is the best possible thing that can happen to humanity, and to the humans working those jobs.

Except our system is so fucked that "no job" = "go die on the streets you worthless layabout"

Every job lost to automation should be celebrated by a socialist society, as it means more of us are moving up Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

As an android developer working with GitHub actions I just use Kotlin Script: but that's because I'm already writing in Kotlin all the time.

It's really nice to be able to run it as a scripting language though

No.

I tried cludging something together with email scraping once but it relied on too many online microservices (zapier etc) and I could never really stabilize it.

That's entirely unrelated

Matter is a local first protocol. Conforming to matter requires local setup and running

[–] huginn@feddit.it 35 points 1 year ago (20 children)

Matter is absolutely game changing: it's gotten full support from Apple, Google, Amazon as well as most HA manufacturers.

With Matter you'll see significant improvements to whatever system you use to control your HA because you don't need 7 protocols and 3 hubs and 4 apps to run everything: it's the open standard we've needed with 1 protocol, 1 setup and pick your preferred app.
