Well said, jerkface

I get the appeal of a home cooked meal, but that doesn't automatically mean that going to a restaurant is a bad option. Also I don't get the entitlement, where do their expectations come from?

Yep that pretty much hits home.

Were Soviet era restaurants so bad that they all prefer home cooked? Or were they unaffordable for the average citizen back then? Or was it just a social norm to cook food for your guests?

They usually cook when I come over, I guess now they expect me to return the favor

I get it, but on the other hand I don't want to spend half of my birthday in the kitchen

I get the sense that it's very common or at least used to be common in Soviet Union to always invite your friends to your home and treat them to home made meals when there was something to celebrate. It seems that going out to restaurants used to be not an option for whatever reason, but I can only guess.

I have been thinking on how to celebrate my birthday, I thought of inviting my parents to my favorite restaurant. When I brought it up, they were all upset "why don't you invite us to your home? Why don't you cook for us? Restaurant is all reheated food, home cooked fresh food is much better" etc. We have lived in Europe for almost my whole life, I don't really understand what's wrong with going out to eat or why they expect me to invite them to my house and prepare a festive meal on my birthday.

German here, usually fluent enough to understand movies and tv shows unless the characters have poor pronunciation or a heavy accent. Also old english Shakespearean fancy words sometimes give me trouble. I consume most media (YouTube, games, etc) in English.

For some context, we are first generation immigrants. My parents are Russian, my mother and her husband have been living here for 20 years (even got rid of Russian citizenship couple years ago), my biological father is still living in Russia.

It's damn exhausting to discuss political topics with them, especially my father. He keeps telling me how great it is to live in Russia, how their economy is doing great and how he's proud that they are defending their "brothers" in Donezk and Luhansk from the evil bandera regime in Ukraine.

My mom voted far right in the past election. She doesn't believe she voted for nazis, but the party's views on economics, climate policy and immigration seem to align with hers. She believes wind farms are harmful for the environment. What the actual fuck.

Whenever I try to argue with them, they tell me that I've been brainwashed by "Western propaganda".

I'm at a loss. I love my parents and I know that nobody's immune to propaganda, but it's heartbreaking to see them holding these toxic beliefs. How would you deal with parents like these? Should I just declare to never talk about politics with them again since it's pointless?

I've already completed Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami, am currently about 15 hours into Kiwami 2.

I fell in love with the franchise after playing Yakuza 0 and initially wanted to play each game chronologically at least up until Yakuza 7/ Like a dragon, but I keep seeing new games releases and spinoffs that look very interesting, such as Judgement, Ishin, and most recently Pirates in Hawaii.

With my full-time job and other adult responsibilities I can't possibly hope to get to play all of them, else I'll never catch up to the current releases.

Are there any titles you suggest I should skip? Are there any "absolutely must play no matter what" titles?
