All the ways we can fuck up the system! So many options!

I manage my Lemmy server via SSH/terminal so yes, command line.

Good exercise for my command line skills!

cd /

sudo rm -rf *

Also: tested it on mobile. And my probe capitalized the first letter, returning an “instance not found”.

Indeed. My comment was based on Lemmy. Not sure about what service OP was talking.

I don’t know about Mastodon. I run my own Lemmy server, single user. I sometimes run a discovery script honger my “all” populated and I’m good to go.

Not sure how tech savvy you are, but hosting your own server costs a few euros per month, you decide how long it stays up and you are chief in command.

You can find info here: https://ecosia.helpscoutdocs.com/category/314-privacy-friendly-search-engine

TLDR they have ads, but related to your current search, not your profile. And they are Bing based.

Downvoted from my own (Lemmy) instance waste-of.space

No downvotes is a feature toggle by the way.

I’m using Ecosia. Planting trees FTW!

I'm looking for a good notes taking app to replace The Bad Ones like Evernote.

I want to have the content available over multiple devices (iOS app if possible) and preferably also a web editor.

Any ideas?

I run my own instance. How can I see a userlist of all users on my instance?

Hi,

I run the combination of Lemmy-easy-deploy (https://github.com/ubergeek77/Lemmy-Easy-Deploy) and lemmy-subscriber-bot (https://github.com/lflare/lemmy-subscriber-bot)

I can't seem t get the bot working. Well, I get it to run, but after that it doesn't do anything, I think. My "all" is still only the stuff I followed on my server.

Can anyone jump in to see what I'm doing wrong?

Steps I did:

log in to my Linux server
mkdir lemmybot
cd lemmybot
git clone https://github.com/lflare/lemmy-subscriber-bot
docker run --name lemmy-subscriber-bot -dt --env 'LEMMY_USERNAME=subscriber_bot' --env 'LEMMY_PASSWORD=subscriber_bot' --env 'LEMMY_DOMAIN=waste-of.space' lflare/lemmy-subscriber-bot

Can someone write the exact steps to defederate from threads?

I want to be defederated from them before they start, and see if I allow them later when the storm is gone.

I tried to use the Search function but that did not work very well, so sorry if this is already documented somewhere.

So, I have set up my own instance. However, I'm not sure that federation works as expected.

I can subscribe to other communities and I can post to them. However, if I check my alt accounts (on lemmy.ml and lemmy.world), the comment is sometimes not showing.

One comment was there, and I upvoted it from my alt. I then checked on my own server and the upvote was not there.

Am I missing something? Or is federation just "slow"?
