It's tricky because the money, time and opportunity cost gone into development, testing and the approval process are also priced into this. Plus the fact that this needs to not only break even but make some money plus the fact that this won't be relevant for a huge market I think (not sure how prevalent SCD is). So it's an outrageous price but probably not just plucked out of thin air
I've been looking at Pop! OS recently because I want to start using Linux again but I feel like it's a standard Ubuntu-based distro with a few things preinstalled. How's that different to any other distro with GNOME UI after I install the same packages?

Same will happen to other German car manufacturers. This is what happens if lobbyists and corrupt politicians wank each other off behind closed doors. No incentives to go with the times and trying to squeeze out as much money short term as possible
