i did find that i got a more reliable/stable connection plugging my fiber media converter into a 10g port rather than a 1gb port on one of my switches. your mileage may vary but it’s worth a try

i bought two disk shelves, 48 drive capacity between them, gonna be a expensive to populate but all told it should net me about 160TB raw capacity.

windows is a trash server os for use by people who should know better. pick a flavor of linux, or Open/Net/FreeBSD it’ll do a better job of serving your data.

ok ok, that was a little harsh, some of them do know and choose to take the wrong path.
