Me too :/ not only that, but it scares people off even more than just the term communism, which in itself is taboo

Radical love, mutual aid, human solidarity, and nonviolent imagery and ideals are more powerful, since they have the ability to tap into a shared ethical ideal, one that can stretch across political and religious boundaries.

Hell yeah. Exo one was kinda what I had in mind, something with stupidly simple mechanics. But I am definitely intrigued by POOLS. Looks spooky. Thanks!

 

I recently got a Steamdeck and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of games that take almost 0 brainpower to play so that I can focus on listening to audiobooks.

For me that means no dialogue and no text to read. Games that have worked for me so far are:

  • Rocket League (difficult to play on Steamdeck)
  • Vampire Survivors (once I learned what each item does)
  • Peggle

Games that I've had trouble with include

  • Sifu
  • Brotato (gotta read to learn the items)
  • Factorio
  • Baba is You

Games I have yet to really try:

  • Elite Dangerous
  • Elden Ring
  • Dorf Romantik (this is promising)
  • Powerwash Simulator (also promising)
  • RollerDrome
  • Halo: MCC online (is Halo 3 online viable on steamdeck?)
  • Risk of Rain 2
  • Hades

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm running out of ideas and may end up just forgoing this hole idea in favor of keeping gaming and books separate

If you aren't comfortable doing that then you aren't comfortable "working on" your car.

You've written a whole lotta junk to essentially end on, "if you can't jack up your car and remove the wheel, you shouldn't be changing your headlight in the first place."

Which is quite a dumb take.

I'm not a proponent of socialism due to the whole 'state' aspect, but I'd say universal healthcare and unconditional UBI would be the actual first steps toward the moneyless and stateless goal put forth in this comic.

No game has ever affected me as much as Outer Wilds. Out of every life changing piece of art I've ever experienced, whether it be film, television, music, literature, or videogames, this is the first and only time I've ever gotten chills by the end.

The story isn't super deep and it isn't necessarily profound -- it's not really a belief-changer, outside of, perhaps, your idea of what a videogame is -- but the experience itself is beautiful and rewarding and I'm not sure it can be recaptured.

I got an OLED the other day and splurged hard during the summer sale.

I got Stray and Little Kitty, Big City to show off to my cat-loving GF, and for me I got Dave the Diver, Sifu, and Babu is You. Also picked up Hollow Knight for good measure, but have yet to start it. 9 Sols, Mullet Madjack, Warhammer Boltgun, Baldurs Gate 3, and Return of the Obra Dinn all on my wishlist.

When are we going to protest. This is insanity.

Here is an excerpt from the dissent:

Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in ex- change for a pardon Immune. Immune, immune, immune.

Let the President violate the law, let him exploit the trappings of his office for personal gain, let him use his official power for evil ends. Because if he knew that he may one day face liability for breaking the law, he might not be as bold and fearless as we would like him to be. That is the majority’s message today.

Even if these nightmare scenarios never play out, and I pray they never do, the damage has been done. The relationship between the President and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law.

Thanks, I'll check out strange horticulture. I'm looking for arthouse games in a sense. Outer Wilds completely changed me, for example, and I want to try to recreate that feeling, but I don't want an Outer Wilds clone, like how Lords of the Fallen is to Dark Souls.

I want something that's going to destroy me and make me think, or just be ultra fun and different from anything else I've played.

It took me a bunch of tries, too. It's not really a "fun" game, more like a visual and interactive novel. Once I got the hang of the dice rolls being the biggest part of the game, and knowing/remembering where to seek them out, and getting used to the map, it became easy to pick up and put back down. It's amazing, but not easy to get going.

My OLED is coming in today, so hyped. Will definitely help with the commute. First off is finishing up Disco Elysium, then maybe playing Edith Finch? Anyone have any other recs? Besides Hades 1, I guess.
